Heather Figi (b.1975)
is both a composer of instrumental music and a violinists with a specialty in performing contemporary works and improvisation.  She began playing the violin at the age of 4 in Janesville, Wisconsin with Alison Lee Jewer.  She went onto receive a BM in violin performance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison followed by a MM in violin performance with an emphasis in Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of MD, College Park.  Post graduate school she studied composition privately for 3 years with Francis McKay at the Levine School of Music, Washington DC.  She is a founding member, performer and composer for the Great Noise Ensemble, a new music group in Washington, DC and has done artist residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Sacatar Institute in Bahia, Brasil.  To date she has created four self published books of supplemental material for young violinists.  She currently performs with Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble and the Ambrosia Ensemble.
